For those who are guilty of not cleaning spills on electric hobs straight away, they will have noticed how tricky these burnt-on stains can be to remove. If left unchecked, for each use of the hob it can feel like they are getting more and more baked in - making them tougher to clean.
It's always wise to wipe the hob clean after every use, but it's helpful to know that it's not the end of the world if you do have some burnt-on stains that just don't seem to budge. Professional cleaner Ann Russell has come to the rescue by recommending an item that makes it easy to clean these stains, and it's a staple in her cupboard.
Ann, who regularly shares advice on her @annrussell03 TikTok page, recently reacted to someone else's video after they tried to use Cif Cream Cleaner to get rid of the burnt stains on their hob. In the clip, a woman could be seen using the product to scrub the stains, before leaving it overnight, and then wiping it off.

In the clip, the woman could be heard saying: "Well this is how it came out. I'm not so impressed. It took out a bit of it...."
Reacting to the clip, Ann said "Cif is really, really good, but as you've seen, it has its limitations". Instead, for bits that are really burnt on, the professional cleaner recommends oven cleaner. Holding up a can of Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner, she said: "For the burnt-on bits - oven cleaner. Really. Spray-on oven cleaner. Works brilliantly. Spray it on the circles and it will dissolve [...]. It won't hurt the glass or the ceramic top, but it's designed to remove burnt-on oven grease."
People in the comment section were thankful of Ann's advice, with one person saying: "You've taught me more than my parents ever have on how to adult." Another wrote: "So here I am at 06:25am spraying oven cleaner on my cooker." "Oven cleaner saved my deposit!" added another.
If that doesn't work, Ann recommends trying a scraper, but advised being careful. Others had their own recommendations. "The Pink Stuff paste is also good!" said one person. Another wrote: "Bar Keepers Friend and vinegar. Let it sit and it comes up beautiful." "I just use a metal scourer get its off straight away don’t even need any products tbh," wrote someone else.
